Children should bring a small bag with a change of clothing and appropriate coat. During the summer months on children should bring a sunhat and have suncream applied before they arrive in the morning. During the winter months they should bring hat, gloves and wellingtons so we can play outside.
If possible, ensure that any garment a child is likely to remove, such as a coat, is marked with their name. If your child wears wellington boots to pre-school please supply soft-shoes for your child to change into on arrival.
Pre-school fees are paid directly to the treasurer.
Lunch club fees are paid to the pre-school staff.
In case of emergencies the Pre-school contact number is 07958 733111 or alternatively contact Stradbroke Primary School on 01379 384415
We want children to feel safe, stimulated and happy in the pre-school and to feel secure and comfortable with staff. We also want parents to have confidence in both their children’s well being and their role as active partners with the pre-school.
During the half-term before a child is enrolled, we provide opportunities for the child and his/her parents to visit pre-school. When a child starts to attend, we work with his/her parents to decide on the best way to help the child to settle into the pre-school.
Starting at Stradbroke Primary School
The primary school reception class teacher maintains close links with the pre-school. The teacher visits the children to get to know them, as the academic year progresses the visits become more frequent. During the last term of the academic year, the children who will be starting school in September get the opportunity to visit class 1 and get familiar with the surroundings. This helps the child make the transition from pre-school to primary school a much happier experience.
The pre-school provides protective clothing for the children when they play with messy activities. We cannot guarantee that your child will remain clean and tidy while they are at Pre-school so please do not send them in their best clothes. Pre-school T-shirts and sweatshirts are available to purchase if you wish.
The pre-school encourages children to gain the skills which help them to be independent and look after themselves. These include taking themselves to the toilet and taking off and putting on outdoor clothes. Clothing which is easy for them to manage will help them to do this.
Any infectious illness is noticeable and the child must not be brought into Pre-school until cleared by the doctor. The Supervisor in charge reserves the right to turn away any child whom in her opinion may be infectious. A child may not attend Pre-school if he/she has had sickness or diarrhea in the previous 48 hours (a list of infectious diseases and the agreed absence periods is available on request from Suffolk Health Authority).
We would appreciate prior notice of children leaving the Pre-school as this allows us to forward plan and not hold a place for a child unable to attend due to moving away from the area or other circumstances.
Stradbroke & District Pre-school hopes that you and your child enjoy being members of the pre-school and that you both find taking part in our activities interesting and stimulating. The staff are always ready and willing to talk with you about your ideas, views or questions.
